Front month fat cattle futures are up 30 to 52 cents for midday. So far feeder cattle futures are mixed, but mostly higher as well. October contracts expire on Thursday for feeder cattle, currently $155.65, and Friday for the fats - @ $125.85 as of midday. Cash trade was slow on Monday. The CME Feeder Cattle Index was $155.89 on 10/22, that was up 48 cents.
USDA quoted Wholesale Boxed Beef prices as $285.14 for Choice and $263.15 for Select this morning. That was a $2.110 cwt. bump for Choice and a 4 cent draw down for Select. USDA estimated FI cattle slaughter at 122k head for Monday. That is up from 120k last week and 116k head last year.

Nov 21 Feeder Cattle are at $158.375, down $0.100
Jan 22 Feeder Cattle are at $158.925, up $0.350
