Feeder Cattle Weekly Summary Report for the week of 02/12/2018

Receipts This Week:  6,546      Last Week:  9,926     Last Year:  8,921

   Compared to last week:  Feeder steers steady to 2.00 higher.  Feeder heifers 
mostly steady to 4.00 higher, advance on 6 weights.  Steer and heifer calves steady 
to 3.00 higher.  Quality average to attractive, few plain. Demand moderate to good.  
Demand continues especially good for grazing type cattle, despite the extreme dry 
conditions across much of the state.  Cold front pushed thru the state over the 
weekend bringing icy conditions to the east.  This along with the bitter cold limited 
livestock movement.  Feeder cattle supply included 58 percent Steers, 1 percent Dairy 
Steers, 39 percent Heifers, and 2 percent Bulls. Feeder cattle supply over 600 lbs 
was 70 percent.
   Slaughter cows mostly steady to 2.00 higher.  Slaughter bulls steady 3.00 higher.  
Packer demand good to very good.  A total of 254 cows and bulls sold with 61 percent 
going to packers.
